retro lives on!

Filed under: Uncategorized — matthewcook @ 1:52 pm

i know, i know. i promised to update regularily and it’s been a while. sorry about that. i’ll get my dad to drag out the camera soon, but for now i want to show you my little video journal that i took right after the most difficult move of my life. i don’t mean the move from canada to pakistan. i mean the move from womb to world. here we go with some retro pics!

my dad had a hard time getting the breast feeding thing down. he figured it out eventually, though he certainly left a funny taste in my mouth.

i didn’t know dad much at this point, so i was actually afraid he was stealing my clothes.

i got this great candid shot of auntie mel as i came out into the world. she was surprised to see me holding a camera.

eventually i warmed up to dad and became his biggest fan.

during the famed pizza famine the week i was born my poor father was driven mad with hunger…

i passed out shortly after he gnawed my foot clean off. it got better though.

i’m practicing for a moses play i’m in.

my hobbies: sunbathing…

looking very cute…

and hanging with mom.

so i hope that was entertaining for you all. i’ll see you all later!

details of my trip to karachi

Filed under: Uncategorized — matthewcook @ 12:50 pm

i was in karachi seeing my uncle shawn off. i let my parents come too, they had also grown fond of him. we had a wonderful time together. we visited the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar, saw the beach, and generally hung out talking while waiting for that dreadful hour when shawn would leave us. here are a few pictures we got from the weekend:

here we are at the grave of the man who founded one of my countries. pretty place.

mom and me at the seafront. like my shirt?

chillin’

the required family shot.

it was my job to guard the luggage while the tall folks went to town for dinner.

general hanging out pics.

i hope you enjoyed this update, i know i did. now if you’ll excuse me, it’s my night to make dinner. we’re having fillet minion, without the minion.

when the son exceeds the father

Filed under: Uncategorized — matthewcook @ 9:21 am

i think you should all notice how i’ve been very regular in my postings. unlike my dear ole dad who hasn’t had a decent post since the picture of my mom.

so enough with the babble, i know you come for the pics:

tired…feel like sleeping.

it looks like i’m taking my teeth out…but i don’t think i’m doing that.

here i am chatting with my buddy at the shoe store. i let my dad come along. he was bored.

that’s it for today. i often wonder if my grandmother in canada is reading my blog, because i’ve never seen a comment from her. it’s sad because i made this blog for her. if she doesn’t comment soon i may have to quit this whole blog thing.

i thought you should know that i can also blog in urdu, but i bet i’d lose some readers.

i’m teaching dad how to put my shoes on. it’s nice having him do everything for me.

though i am pakistani i never forget my canadin roots. woo ha!

dad always take me out when he drinks tea with his buddies. nice guy.

and this is a video of me ‘hanging’ out.

that’s it for now. see ya later!

To my dear friend Abigail

Filed under: Uncategorized — matthewcook @ 1:30 pm

i should like to point out a few things to my dear friend across the ocean. i can understand your desire to be more like me in what i do with my telecommunications ability, but you need to realize that you fall a little short. for example, i started up my own blog, whereas you have simply posted on you uncle’s. also i have coherent posts, whereas you simply drool on the keyboard. obviously my blog is far superior.

that being said i hope we can be friends and i hear rumors that my parents may be asking your parents about marriage deals in the future, so let’s keep our relationship cordial.

also, here are some wonderful pictures of me.

i’m trying to get into my favorite shop, but it’s closed, as you can see.

just me chillin’ with my peeps.

once again revelling in the greatness of sindhi culture with my ajerak.

that’s all i have for now. my dad’s trying to fix something on the net so i have to go. until next time!

perchance to video

Filed under: Uncategorized — matthewcook @ 11:59 am

here are a few pics of me while my dear uncle shawn is visiting. perhaps even a video.

shawn put me up here. i can’t remember how i got down…

i’m trying to take dad for a walk. he needs to go out every day or he gets cranky.

and here’s a video…i think.

so long!

Look who’s bloggin’!

Filed under: Uncategorized — matthewcook @ 12:33 pm

like father like son. i’ve decided to join my father in starting a blog. i do this mainly for my dear grandmother whom i still remember. i know how much you want your son to show you more pictures of me, but he’s very busy so i figured that i should do it myself. so i give this first post to you. i was looking for a bit of a retro theme, but as my dad’s hard drive died last summer, many of the best pics of me are gone. here are a few that uncle shawn gave me on the night before i moved to pakistan. enjoy them!

here’s me leading my team, on the way to pakistan. yay!

i think i dropped a gummy bear on auntie lori’s neck and i’m trying to get it.

me and my buddy lucas. chillin’.

we started an impromtu wrestling match. i won, as i recall.

here i’m helping silas with his exercise. my goal is to be a dead weight to improve his resistance training.

i think i farted.

ahh, the sindhi ajerak. textile of my beautiful cultre.

also quite comfy.

so that’s it for today. i’ll be uploading more pics and videos as the days go on. i should prove more diligent than me dear ole dad is.

buh bye!
